The Sagas of Icelanders: Another Dimension of Social Innovation

Iceland represents an interesting case study to be examined in the world of the social economy and social enterprise. Although there is not a clear Icelandic definition of what the term ‘social enterprise’ means, overwhelming expressions of collectiveness, infinite symbolic representations of self-identity as well as a brand of new projected isomorphic forms of innovation can be observed in Iceland.

Icelandic beauty not only resides in the mighty of its nature, the inner wisdom of its ancient culture or simply the passion of its people in the outcry of self-liberation, but also it is perhaps the Mysticism of its own universe and the inherent motivation to do something amicably but simultaneously efficiently to overcome the current reality.

This ongoing chapter in the sagas of social innovation trespasses its own myth transforming it into reality demonstrating the juxtaposition that "there are more things to be thought of by men than money alone".
